The Grand Canyon

Mommy put the sunset pictures on top of the day pictures! Oh well. Here we are at Grand Canyon and you have to see it to believe it!!!
We held hands a lot and stayed on the paths that had  trees. They are small and probably wouldn't break your fall, but they made us (me and mommy) feel better! :))
Look an elk!
Hey elk!
No, over here!

Hi everyone.  It's Jen. We arrived at GC mid morning and went to the visitor's center. We picked up our maps, Bridget did her stamps and we watched a film on the Geology of the canyon. Then we walked the Rim Trail for a couple miles. By 1:00 we were able to check into our campsite. It's our favorite one yet, spacious with trees and a nice spot for our tent. The weather is perfect, in the 80's with big puffy clouds. It's the monsoon season here which means days are cooler because of cloud cover and thunderstorms are prevalent. But the storms pass quickly! We had one between 2-4 then the sun came out again and we were able to go for a bike ride. There are bike paths that go right from our campsite to the rim of the canyon. We explored 5 more miles by bike, then headed back to camp, cooked dinner and spent time getting to know our neighbors. They are from Copenhagen. Super people- unfortunately leaving tomorrow. They rented an RV for 18 days and it cost them 5k! We are feeling really good about our 1986 camper:))) We slept outside....first time since the Smokies because it was always too hot (or it wasn't allowed). Nights get nice and cool here!
