On the road again....

All equipped with our hats, shades, UV shirts and sled! This is White Sands National Monument, the largest gypsum sand dune in the world, which moves west to east about 20 ft per year. It is only 4,000-7,000 yrs old, whereas the desert and mountains surrounding it are millions of years old. It hosts an amazing variety of animal and plant life. During monsoon season, eggs/larva that have laid dormant for decades can hatch. They have full moon bike rides here during the summer months....as you can imagine sunsets are spectacular and dawn and dusk are the best times to see wildlife. Our travels brought us here in the middle of the day, but still a great stop when you're prepared:))
Stopped at this small town roadside cafe for breakfast and had the best huevos rancheros ever!
Otherwise known as book club!!
