Rockhound state park, NM....plus a random picture that belongs on the Tombstone blog...oops!!

This picture goes with the next blog......and it's for you Joe!!! But the handsome cowboy is mine!:))
We never reported on the bats after Sat nite. It was a much better display! The bats whirl pooled in their characteristic counter- clockwise motion at the mouth of the cave before flying off to the southwest. It was almost dizzying! Probably saw hundreds of thousands this time.... It was super cool!
Bridget adopted a bat. I'll let her tell you all about that :))
Rockhound is the state park we stayed in Sunday night. We still made it well before sunset despite our tire incident. You may all be wondering why Mark didn't fix it! It was because the leak was on the stem, so fix a flat couldn't do the job. Anyway, Rockhound is known for its rocks and minerals- quartz, jasper, opal, and many others. We are not rock buffs so most just look like ordinary rocks to us, but if you know what you're doing I imagine you could gather quite a collection. Each person is allowed to take up to 15 lbs of rocks out of the park. We woke up early Monday to explore and hike before leaving for Benson (outside of Tucson).
We attempted to visit Shakespeare and Stein ghost towns which are right off Route 10 near Lordsburg, NM, but both were duds. They were gated and we couldn't get in, plus, from what we could see, not well kept with too much modern crap mixed in with the old buildings. So onward we went arriving at our RV park at about 3:30. But, it was only 2:30! Totally spaced out the fact that Arizona does not observe daylight savings time!
Here is Bridget enjoying the pool. The child is a fish!!
